Registration of Telephone Services

Shared Services Canada (SSC), as part of its Cost-effective Telephone Services initiative, is creating an up-to-date inventory of all telephone devices and services in use by its employees and its 43 partner organizations.

All employees are to provide basic, non-confidential information on the following devices:

  • Traditional Desktop Telephones (including Voice over Internet Protocol – or “VoIP”)
  • Cellular Telephones
  • BlackBerry Devices
  • Pagers
  • Other Smartphones
This project is a key element in SSC's contribution to the cost reduction measures outlined in the Government of Canada's Economic Action Plan (EAP). This will give SSC a full picture of the services currently being used across government, and create an opportunity for us to validate and consolidate services in order to produce savings.  It is scheduled to be at full uptake by 2015, and expected to generate approximately $28.8 million in ongoing annual savings.
